I retired from the Deans’ Office, at GBS in August 2014, after 26 years, and since then have been very pleasantly busy ! 7 months after retiring, our older daughter, in Wisconsin, had twins ( girl / boy ); and 2 years later, she had a girl. Our other daughter, in Colorado, had a girl 2 WEEKS later, and is now expecting another little gal, roughly mid October. Needless to say, I’ll be out west during the class reunion. These kiddos are THE BEST — being a grandparent couldn’t be more AWESOME ! Tom and I are still in Glenview (with ALL the changes), and have no intentions of moving....... still get season passes to Flick and Roosevelt pools every summer, and an occasional Dairy Bar visit. Married 44 years, going on 45. Life is good.

Penny Albrecht really small.jpg

Albrecht, penny (bridges)

After graduation I headed to Atlanta to go to Georgia State, while living with my aunt and uncle. Two semesters in and I dropped out, got a job at a bank and got married to a musician I met in school.  We had a son and got divorced. I left and returned to Illinois, but headed to the corn fields. There I worked in a medical clinic until I decided to go in to the USAF. My tests showed an aptitude for electronics, so I became a microwave radio technician. Might as well have a career that women weren’t in at the time.

Spent 3 of my 4 years based at Andrews AFB in Maryland, where I met and married my present husband. He went off to Germany for two years after I was done with my enlistment. I got a job working for a computer company as a technician. Most of my computer work was done in DC and the suburbs, which is how we ended up living in Virginia. Al and I were married for eleven years when our daughter was born.

Once she was born, I changed my focus as to work, and had a variety of desk based jobs. The main reason was so I could be there for her, as she (and my son) are “special needs”, which is a horrible label. I prefer special abilities. Anyhow, there were trips to UVA for diagnoses, a private school that was forty minutes away with no bus service, and a bunch of other things. Eventually I ended up working part time, and retired at 62 after a cancer diagnosis.

I did manage to get to France and use my language skills, sing and record in a real studio and a few other really great things, including a whole family connection in Alabama that no one knew about. We moved to the Roanoke, VA area where we could afford to live when my husband retires.

I left GBS intending on becoming lawyer and registered at NIU as a political science major. By a quirk of fate, I managed to get a job working at the university’s public radio station, WNIU. Although I was an announcer/operator, when the Kent State riots broke out in May of 1970 I was asked to help in the news department. The adrenaline rush of covering riots was overwhelming and I switched my major to broadcasting. After graduation I worked as a radio reporter and then news director in Rockford for three years. The purchase of the radio station by Howard Miller (remember him?) ended my broadcast career.

Most of the rest of my career I worked in sales and marketing, first in pharmaceuticals and then entirely in professional dental products. I returned to NIU part-time to earn an MBA with a Marketing Emphasis in 1993. I was a product manager for Hu-Friedy, a dental instrument manufacturer whose headquarters sits on the land once occupied by Riverview. I was a Global Marketing Manager for Bisco, headquartered in Schaumburg and ended my working career in a completely different field in a process improvement laboratory for BP in Naperville.

As some of you may wonder, Gail Lempicke and I were married in 1972 but divorced in 1995. We had one son, Michael. I remarried my wonderful wife Kate Foley who gave up a successful psychotherapy practice in Ohio to move here and start a new life with me. We’ve been married 22 years.

After a health scare in 2011 I realized that we have only so many tomorrows and resolved to indulge my love of photography on a serious basis. I’m now the chairman of Gallery Seven, a co-operative gallery in Lockport and love seeing my work hung there and occasionally given the ultimate validation of being purchased. I have a studio in the basement of our home and love tinkering with images for hours on end.

When not doing photography, I am an avid reader of books that have lots of footnotes and multi-syllabic words, mostly dealing with history, culture, the arts, society, and politics.

I remain, no matter how difficult they make it, a die-hard Cubs fan.

Baden, Alison Lauryl

After graduating from GBS (how can it be 50 years ago!) I went to 3 different colleges before heading to Texas where I earned my BA and MA in Psychology. I met my husband during my senior year in college and decided to remain in Texas instead of returning to Illinois as planned. We have been married for 40 years. I have 1 daughter who resides in WA. I have had various careers - working in a battered women's shelter, doing mediation for business disputes and divorces, conducting relationship seminars, being a life coach, and now teaching yoga. In the near future I hope to get certified as a hypnoanalyst.

My passions are working out and studying alternative medicine and nutrition. My main goal at this time is to reach 120 years old still in great health, still learning, having new experiences, and enjoying every minute of the day!

Being a military brat, I've lived all over the country plus a couple of years in Japan and Taiwan... then I married twice to military men, so continued moving. Ended up here in the best place in the USA in 1979 - San Diego, California! I've never been happier - the weather is 95% awesome which is conducive to walking every day and getting out in that fresh air! Besides that, I've been keeping up my dancing a couple of times/week... brings me great joy! My hobby is taking pictures wherever I go w/my smartphone; always said I'd never need/get one, but when I found out about the camera - you guessed it! I've been "retired" since my layoff 7 years ago, but now looking for part-time work in the clerical field since rent is going sky-high (the detriment to living here).

Just got my 10-year pin for volunteering on our famous USS Midway Museum - if you ever get out this way, you gotta make sure you visit us - it's a memorable experience!

baldy, ray (jack Elliott)

Graduated GBS  and received an Associate degree in Journalism from Harper College then a BA in Radio TV communications from Columbia College Chicago.

Wife Cindy and I have been married 46 years. I took the broadcast name Jack Elliott as suggested by a radio program director

Here's my world in a nutshell -

Did one year as morning host on WOLI FM Ottawa, Il.

Got hired to host afternoon drive on top-40 KRIZ Radio Phoenix.

After KRIZ was sold in 1979 I moved to WKY Radio in Oklahoma City hosting mornings for 12 years.

The WKY Radio format changed and so did I. I teamed-up with Ron Williams to do mornings on Classic Hits KOOL 102 in OKC.

Kool was sold  in 1994 and we moved over to KISS FM in Oklahoma City to host morning drive. We did mornings for 23 years on KISS FM Radio. A  company bankruptcy found us moving forward to the world of podcasting. Ron and I  currently host a weekly video podcast on the Jack and Ron Facebook page.1pm Mondays. The audio from which is then distributed on every podcast streaming sight on the planet.

I also host "Today in Oklahoma" on the NBC TV affiliate in OKC. Cindy has been a sales rep at that same TV station for 42 years. We have one daughter who was a TV reporter in OKC before moving to Phoenix to co-host a morning radio show and work as a reporter for the ABC TV affiliate in Phoenix. I have a studio in our home where I do voice-overs for radio/TV commercials and narrations for videos, etc.

Bancroft, Rick

So, after graduating Depauw University in '73, I married, moved to Decatur. Worked for WSOY for a year. Moved to Richmond Va. so my wife could attend grad school in pediatric nursing. I worked for WRNL/WRXL in sales and then management. She got her degree and we divorced. I married again in '82 to a woman with 3 children. She said that "It's me and everything that comes with me." So 40 years later we have 2 children (lost one to cancer) 10 grandchildren (they add up quick with 2 sets of twins), 19 great-grandchildren. I started a construction business (Tulip Tree Renovation) and retired last year after 30 years of making a living at my hobby.

Barr, Jim 2.jpg

barr, Jim

With less than a week to go before we gather in Glenview, this bio update comes about after one of my good friends strongly encouraged me this weekend to create something a bit more current than the 1984 version. Thank you, Tom – I think.

After 44 fun-filled, both physically and mentally challenging, and rewarding years in the Hospitality Industry, I began retirement the day before Thanksgiving, 2018. Getting used to not working has not been easy.  I am, however, beginning to get the hang of it. That Debbie (Demouth, GBS ’70), my wife of 41 years, has not changed the locks on our house (yet) leads me to believe I am doing something right.

Since graduation from Principia College in 1973 (History and English), I have worked for Sheraton Corporation (twice), Victoria Station restaurants, Harry’s Café, the Claim Company at Northbrook Court, the National Restaurant Association (both in Chicago and DC), Marriott Corporation (twice) and, most recently, Pinehurst Resort.

I have worked in and/or lived in Northbrook (twice), Wheeling, Lincolnshire, Glenview, Tahoe City CA, St. Louis (three times), Louisville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Niles, Chicago, Alexandria VA, Schaumburg, Northfield and Pinehurst (The Cradle of American Golf), NC.

I have worked as a front desk clerk, busboy, dishwasher, waiter, line cook, kitchen manager, restaurant manager, seminar instructor and meeting planner for the National Restaurant Association, floor manager at McCormick Place for the annual National Restaurant Show, beverage manager, catering manager, catering director, hotel front office manager and convention services manager, all of which were enjoyable. The convention services manager position, however, was, by far, the best of the lot, as it was the most challenging.

As a convention services manager, I was fortunate and privileged to meet, take care of and/or spend time with some captains of industry, some major names in the sporting and entertainment worlds, general officers and admirals, true American heroes, cutting-edge leaders in medicine, two sitting Presidents, one Vice President and one future President, along with the men and women who protect them.

With all of that behind me, it is time to unwind, take golf lessons to resurrect my game, travel and continue with volunteer work in Pinehurst. But first, it is time to come home for a Reunion!

beckman 55.jpeg

beckmann, tom

Following graduation from South, I attended Dartmouth College, where I majored in economics and continued to swim competitively. After a productive year at the Northern Trust Company (“productive” because I met Carol Nero, who I married in 1975), I got my MBA from Stanford and moved to Michigan to work in the finance department at Ford. While in Michigan, both of our children, James and Laura, were born. Accepting a job at Continental Bank brought us back to Illinois – initially to Northbrook, but I couldn’t handle the thought of cheering for the GBN Spartans, so we moved back to Glenview. Both kids graduated from GBS, are married and are now an orthopedic surgeon in Boise, Idaho, and an 8th grade math teacher and urban minister in Louisville, Kentucky, respectively.

I spent nine years at Continental, until it was bought by BankAmerica, then joined the Treasury team at Sears, continuing my career of borrowing money to finance the Sears credit card. When Sears was sold to Kmart in 2005, I tried retirement. As an indication of how well that worked out, I took a job at Case New Holland (think John Deere tractors in red instead of green) – still in the money-borrowing business – just as the financial crisis hit. I experienced first-hand the challenges of the market as well as the farm economy. It was exciting, frustrating, and rewarding all at the same time. I retired from CNH in June 2018. Recently I have been working part time for the Glenview Park District, reverting to my high school days as a lifeguard.

Looking back at the past 50 years, I see how God has protected, provided for and guided me and my family. Carol and I are still married after 44 years (another gift from God to me), enjoying good health and travel. I’ve been amazed at how many GBS alumni I’ve encountered over my career, which made me appreciate our time at Glenbrook South.

Hope to see all of you in October.

I lived in the Milwaukee area since graduating from UW-Platteville. I worked for Time Insurance (with time off to have 2 kids) until 1996, and then worked as a veterinary Technician at an animal hospital (my favorite job!) I had divorced in 1984 and married Chuck in 1994. We moved to Ridgefield, Washington, in 2015 and love it here. But I am still an avid Packer fan through and through! It’s been great to read the bios that everyone has sent! I wish I had been better about staying in touch with my GBS classmates, and I appreciate the opportunity to do so now. (Thanks to Janet Wells Hendrix, my childhood friend who contacted me through Classmates.com!) After graduation, I went to Vandy for two years then transferred the University of Kentucky in speech therapy. I was the speech therapist in rural Fleming County, KY, then married a minister and served in several towns/cities in KY, during which time I got a master’s in primary education and continued teaching in the classroom. Now I’ve retired from that, in Louisville KY, but I work for a tutoring agency (to keep my brain from going to mush). With three sons and five grandkids, life is full of joy! (One son and family lived with me for seven years and now live two doors down.) I think fondly of my years at GBS and it’s been fun to reminisce via the online version of the yearbooks (since my own were black-molded into oblivion in a coal bin we used as a storage area). It’s hard to think it has been fifty years since we said good-bye to our high school days and ventured into adult life. It has been a journey, as I’m sure it has for all of you, with many joys and some sorrows as well. God has been my lifeline through it all. “I can do all things through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13) I’ve learned that the only thing that really matters in life, and the only thing that remains when we’re gone, is relationships: with God and with other people. (Sorry, Jim Siwy, I didn’t aim to copy you but it is a universal truth!) We’re here to make the lives of others better, in whatever way we can. It is a privilege to be a part of you, Class of ’69! God be with you all.

Bracken, Dave

Jim Siwy motivated me to submit a bio that is a bit more informative.

After graduation, I packed my guitar and headed off to Dartmouth College where I ended up majoring in Psychology. I gave up on swimming (while Tom Beckmann persevered with a successful career) and ended up playing rugby, which took me on trips to England and Ireland. I met Liz in my Senior year, and she was sufficiently impressed with my guitar playing that we got married on Nantucket after I graduated. I went to Georgia Tech to get a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology which created a home base in Atlanta with many side trips and jobs in Rochester, Orlando, Minneapolis, New York, and Lincoln, and six months in London. My area of specialty is feedback, as in performance appraisals, employee surveys, and 360 Feedback. I have done some books and lots of publication, and I have a web site at www.dwbracken.com. I currently teach at the MS/PhD level online at Keiser University.

Liz recently retired after 40 years working in OB/BYN. She has gone back to college to get a degree in English Literature. We have two daughters, Anne who lives in Franklin, TN, works for Nissan and has two daughters, Cora (11) and Greta (9). Ali has just moved to Chattanooga to work for the Girls Private School and has twin boys Calder and JD (11) and Sanders (almost 5).

My greatest continuity with GBS has been through Ford Colley. At one period of time, we found that we had accumulated a small library of songs we had written and decided to get them out of our system using Ford’s recording studio. We had a lot of fun creating a small “album” of songs that I will let him describe. It was also fun to sit around and listen to old Pieces of Eight tapes he had resurrected from high school days. It is very sad to hear of Barb Nelson’s passing but we hope that the other members of our little group can make the reunion (Jackie Murray, Debbie Shields, Barb Redfield, Rob Rees).

I have had a blessed life and have no regrets on its path. I was drafted in 1970 ( US Army ) worked for the Postal Service for 22 years, 22 years for Chevrolet and up until last August with Cardinal Health and Loyola University Medical Center and Ronald McDonald Children's Hospital. I've been married for 46 years to my wife Kathy and I have a beautiful daughter Courtney 44, a retired professional figure skater and a terrific son Jon ( 40 ) who's Administrator, Director of Preoperative Services at University of Chicago Hospitals in Chicago. I also have 3 great grand kids who keep me busy all the time. I have met and worked with so many great individuals who have inspired me to succeed in various fields of work at which none were related and to have 3 careers all different. As I said before I have been blessed. I look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

I am probably among the most “anchored to Glenview” of our Class of ’69. My family moved to a new Huber Lane subdivision in 1957 and I have been in town ever since. During our high school summers I managed Glenview Pony League Baseball team and worked for the Glenview Park District on playgrounds and at youth sports camps. Following graduation I attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, a classic college town in mid-Michigan where my father had lived during his high school years. It is about two hours south of our lakeside cabin that has been a summer touchstone for our family for over 80 years. Probably the most practical education I received at Central, a school that I recommend highly, was four years as a student assistant with the basketball team. During those years, NCAA rules allowed only three coaches for the entire program, a head coach, an assistant who coached the freshman team and assisted the varsity, and a third coach who basically recruited and scouted, rarely attending the actual games. So, I sat right next to the head coach on the bench, helped run practices, and also roomed with the best player on the team (who later played in the NBA.) I learned “pure teaching” from those coaches, organization, and how to stay focused in pressure situations. They were in the process of finding a high school coaching position in Michigan for me, when I returned to Glenview in the Spring of 1973. My life took a momentous turn when I stopped by our Glenview Junior High, by then John H. Springman School, to say hello to my friend, Dave Tosh, who taught PE at Springman and was a fellow Pony League coach. He knew of a recent opening at the school and said, “Come on in and meet the principal. I think we can get you this job.” It doesn’t happen that way anymore, but that is how it happened for me. Of course, it changed everything – all for the best. The next year I met Barbara Sass, Glenbrook North class of ’70, who had recently graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Drama/Television/Radio and joined the Springman staff when the Waukegan Fine Arts school she was hired to teach at suddenly folded. It took me all year to muster up the courage to ask her out, but on our first date in the summer of ’75 we talked about marriage and the wedding was the following August.

Barbara and I spent our careers teaching at Springman Middle School. I taught mainly social studies, but also language arts and physical education. Barbara taught language arts. We bought a house within walking distance of the school and raised three tall boys (Bryan, Brett, and Blake) who graduated from GBS (basketball players all, and two were baseball pitchers) and they all are now also middle school teachers in Minnesota, Idaho, and Michigan respectively. Brett’s wife teaches second grade and Blake’s wife is in the school of education at CMU. We have four grandchildren.

I coached basketball at Springman for 39 years and was greatly surprised to be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2012. My Glenview Youth Baseball coaching career ended after 25 years when my second stint with my own boys was complete, and I had been at it so long that they named a field after me. After completing my graduate degree from the University of Illinois/Urbana I did some part time instructing at Northwestern, DePaul, UIC, and Loyola. Barbara earned her masters from St. Xavier and assumed department leadership positions, but we both continued teaching at Springman fulltime until 2012. Upon “retirement” we shared with the principals at both the middle schools in Glenview that we would be happy to serve as long-term “guest teachers” in our various subject areas to cover maternity/paternity leaves. They took us at our word, and between the two of us we have done 23 long-term positions (12-15 weeks at a time) over the past eight years. If one of us has a position and the other does not, we double team the students and work together. The first Glenview students I taught are now 61 years old and I have taught many second-generation students over the years as well as children of our GBS classmates. I even taught the children of several of my GBS teachers, including Dr. Schreiner’s son. Along with retired Springman teacher Dave Tosh, who still volunteers daily at the school as sort of a concierge, I have sponsored the annual Washington DC 8th grade trip for the past 46 years. That works out to about 200 days in DC with about 10,000 eighth graders!

Before we had children Barbara and I traveled to Europe and visited the People’s Republic of China in 1981 when it was just opening to foreign visitors (everyone in Mao suits, many bicycles.) When the kids were young, we traveled throughout the U.S. as a family. My avocations are the Chicago White Sox, Central Michigan Football, classical music (Mahler and Shostakovich especially), and reading presidential biographies. A recent highlight was serving on the organizational committee for our class 50th reunion. Reconnecting has left me greatly impressed with the accomplishments and impact that the class of ’69 has had on the world. My career in education has reinforced for me the good fortune we all had to attend an amazing high school with a unique culture, rich traditions and a strong legacy. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, next reunion at the latest . . .

My twin brother, Grant, and I did complete high school, though sadly not at GBS! Grant then went to Stanford, and I went to Northwestern. We both finished our Ph.D.s in 1980 (his at Minnesota, mine at Indiana). I met Kathy McCutcheon while in college, and we've been married since 1974. I went on to teach at seven different colleges, earning tenure at three of them. I had a Fulbright Senior Lectureship to the University of Gdansk, in Poland, from 1984-87. My wife completed her Ph.D. in theater in 1994. I held a visiting professorship at Princeton (but they didn't offer me tenure!). I've published some poetry, fiction, articles, and books, and now I'm a full professor of English at Baruch College, which is part of the City University of New York. Recently I was elected union delegate for the College and spend much time organizing. I'm a cancer and heart bypass surgery survivor, but I still train daily (cycling, but also weights and elliptical) and expect to do a 100k bike ride next month. I just finished writing my second novel, this one co-authored with my father, who died 50 years ago, but who left some writings. Looking forward to seeing you all once again!

clavey, nancy (Hyrczyk)

After graduation, I went to National College of Education (now National Louis University). I received my Bachelor of Arts degree, and taught primary grades at Prospect Heights SD 23 for 37+ years. During that time, I received my MEd from U of I in Champaign. Besides teaching, I was the Tech Facilitator for my building for quite a few years, assisting and teaching colleagues. I retired in 2010.

I met my husband in 1971, marrying in 1977. We enjoyed sailing, snowmobiling, auto racing, photography, dachshunds, and model railroading. Unfortunately, illness took my husband in 2001.

Our kids have always had fur coats. Since 1989, I have been owned by seven dachshunds, currently living with three. I have been involved with canine rescue since 2009, fostering 15 dogs. I have worked with several rescues, most recently as photographer and writer to feature dogs looking to be adopted. I have a site on Facebook dedicated to dachshunds.

Other volunteer work involves tutoring second language adults at Read to Learn through High School District 214. I chair a church group that sends cards and makes visits to members of the church who are ill, home-bound, or in rehab. I administer a page on Facebook dealing with activities from our church.

clavey, philip

Well, two days before the reunion festivities begin and i'm just now writing about the last 50 years. For those who remember Mr. Tosch (P.E. teacher at Glenview Jr. High and counselor at GBS) he always told me I'd be late to my own funeral. What a prophet. I retired in 2016 after 43 years in B-to-B advertising and marketing, am married (#2) with two children and two grandchildren, and am up to my eyeballs in my photography hobby. For those after more than the Cliff Notes, read on...

After I graduated from GBS I went to and graduated from NIU in 1973 with a B.S. in journalism. I'm surprised to read how many other classmates also attended NIU. I don't recall running into anyone else. I knew I wanted to write, but despite the "journalism" degree, my emphasis was in advertising copywriting (no interest in being a starving artist or newspaper reporter). After a copywriting internship with Sears (RIP) I graduated and started work in their national retail advertising department and was one of the first wave of employees in 1973 moving into the Sears Tower (alas, now Willis).

I worked there for seven years before joining a medium sized company in Des Plaines doing marketing communications. After four years there I joined a small ad agency as creative director, but I left there after two years. That business was WAY too unstable for me, although I loved the creative work. I then took a job as marketing manager at a small business in Highland Park which, one year later, was acquired by a division of Bristol-Myers (Drackett...think Windex) that happened to be located in Cincinnati, OH. That was the start of a wild and wooly ride of about 30 years of corporate sales and acquisitions. I worked for six different corporations (mostly with S.C. Johnson) during that time without ever actually leaving for a new job. My first wife and I packed up our kids (Lisa and Matt) and moved to Ohio.

I have been incredibly fortunate to ultimately lead an overall marketing/promotion/product-management team, while only having a lowly journalism degree and surrounded by MBAs. During these years in Ohio I was divorced after 20 years and am now remarried to Gail (15 years!). Both my adult children work in sales. Lisa, in business-to-business, graduated from Ohio State (got to see NIU play OSU in football!). Matt works in direct-to-consumer sales, is married and has given us two wonderful grandchildren (Hunter 8 and Logan 4). Hunter is a natural athlete (didn't get that from me!) and I love photographing him playing football, baseball and basketball. As for Logan, I've never seen a kid more curious about how everything works (vacuums to power tools). My stepson, Alex, is married and an engineer who works on top-secret military computer "stuff" involving drones (seriously). Everyone currently lives in the greater Cincinnati area so it's nice not to travel during the holidays.

After years of corporate management, Gail is semi-retired and has her own pet-sitting business We are big into animal rescue and currently have two golden retrievers and three cats. A few years back we purchased a small vacation cabin on a lake just outside Great Smokey Mountain national park. We enjoy boating in the summer and hiking in the fall (a photographer's paradise). We've also done the requisite Alaska and Hawaii trips and hope to do more. Now that I'm retired photography (which has been a hobby since college) consumes much of my time. One of my "to-do" things is to convert my thousands of Kodachrome slides to digital.

I have not been back to Glenview in many years, although I come to the Chicago area in general a few times a year (my sister lives in Crystal Lake). Even though they mostly grew up in Cincinnati, my kids are rabid Chicago sports fans. It's been wonderful to see the Bears win a Super Bowl, the Bulls "Threepete" twice and...the Cubs win a World Series!!

conant, jr., howie (howard)

50 Years in 4 paragraphs…

Since June of 1969, I entered college (Harvard) and graduated four years later with a degree in English literature, entered graduate school (UC Berkeley) and earned a Master of Architecture degree, worked as an architect for several years in San Jose, started my own development business (Urban Innovations), got married (to Pam Rahmann in 1985), moved to Glencoe, IL, had three children (Rachel, Sophie and Louie), managed to survive parenthood (so far), bought a small house in Big Sur, CA where we could escape the bustle of life in Chicago, rebuilt a new house after our first one burnt down in a wildfire, began transitioning my business to younger hungrier people, discovered that business partners can sometimes be treacherous and disloyal, got divorced (I do not recommend this), reclaimed and rebuilt my business and have now once again become semi-retired. Last year, I moved into my parents’ house in Glenview after my mother died.

I have continued to be active in politics (progressive and liberal, enthusiastic and early supporters of Obama) and nonprofits (homelessness, human rights, criminal justice reform, WBEZ public radio, Writers Theatre and others).

I live with two assertive Yorkshire terriers so I don’t have to worry about making decisions. I enjoy seeing my kids become happy, healthy, independent adults. I am hoping for grandchildren sometime. My health so far is good (knock on wood; I hope that helps). And I am working hard to reclaim our country from Mr. Trump, Mr. Putin and the rest of the scoundrels.

See you at the reunion!

Karen and I have been together for almost 44 years and married for 37 years. We lived in Wrigleyville until 1986 when we moved to Deerfield. I have worked for United Airlines for almost 44 years. I'm not planning to retire anytime soon. Karen had worked in Special Education at South Park Elementary in Deerfield for 24 years until she retired in 2018 to take care of our two grandsons. We also own and manage several apartment buildings in Wrigleyville, a few blocks from Wrigley Field.

We have two daughters, Ashley and Caitlin. Ashley and her husband Dan have two sons, Logan 4 (red hair same color as mine was) and Derek 18 months. Ashley works for Excelon and has degrees in Finance, Accounting and her CPA. They also live in Deerfield. So nice to have them close! Our younger daughter, Caitlin and her boyfriend Mike, live in one of our apartments in Chicago. Great to have your parents as your landlords! She will graduate in December, after 4 long years, with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. She will be a a CRNA, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Our lives are busy. We have really not slowed down much at all and have no plans do so at this time.

After GBS I went on to Northern Illinois University where I earned a degree in accounting. I became a CPA and joined Arthur Andersen LLP focusing on middle market companies. I became a partner in the firm in 1985 and left in 1996 to start my own business. In 2000 I became the CFO of one of my former clients until they were sold. Since then I have been providing CFO services to middle market companies, currently through my consulting firm Wiltshire Group.

I met Linda at NIU and we were married in 1982. We have three daughters and one son we are very proud of. Two engineers, a special education teacher (now a stay at home mom) and a veterinarian. We also have two grandchildren we don’t see enough of. We lived in Olympia Fields in the south suburbs for 32 years. Linda retired as director of special education at a local charter high school and we are in the process of getting settled in our new apartment downtown at the north end of Grant Park.

Hi folks. Chris and I are doing well and living in Summerlin, NV. I am retired from the Laguna Beech, CA. post office. Chris retired about 5 years ago when we moved to Nevada. We lived in Laguna Hills, CA. for about 30 years. My interests have not changed over the years. Cars and guitars. We visit Glenview every few years, and have family in the area but no children. Our best to everyone that reads this. Peace and Love. Bob out.

fletcher, tom

After leaving GBS I studied at Harper College & Southern Illinois University. My early years after college had me employed in the architectural and engineering world for a few years. I then stepped into the fire protection world. Yes I did marry my high school sweetheart Nancy LaVine (GBS 70) in 1977. We bought a home in Buffalo Grove that I’m still in since 1984. We had a beautiful daughter Kelly. She attended Stevenson HS then Columbia where she graduated with a BA in Advertising Art Direction. She got married in 2015 to her high school sweetheart also Mike Fishkin and they had my gorgeous granddaughter Charlotte in Feb. 2019. Nancy sadly had health issues for 19 years and bless her soul we lost her in 2012. My interests through out my early years were traveling, 16” softball, running (5k, 10k, ½ marathons), and landscaping. My loves now for last 20 years: tennis and still my yard work. I recently retired Oct. 2020 after 45 years employed in many Fire Protection Design & Management positions. Sadly we lost my very good friend of 50 years from GBS 69 Mike Anderson. I agonized over that and let the 2019 reunion slip by. Miss seeing you all and hope all are healthy entering our well earned retirement years.

Keep laughing, dancing and also sending hugs to all.

I've spent my entire adult life residing in Seattle, working as a programmer/analyst, business applications. Now retired, I use my query skills and spend far too much time digging for ancestors; I am quite the genealogy nut. Here’s where my daughter says, “Don’t get her started." I am the editor for the electronic newsletter of my local genealogical society. It's a volunteer position. I have one daughter, one granddaughter, and one son-in-law; so I can always truthfully say, “You are my favorite ____.”
